I am quite optimistic about this, but it is something that has been on my mind for a while lol. This is transhumanism and cyborgs. I truly believe that within the next 15 - 20 years, we will start to see humans become more machine. This is mostly going to be older billionaires, and then over time trickle down towards us plebs.
I believe that this is inevitable, and the funding for these things will increase even more as these billionaires age. Because like why would they not want to live forever? These greedy fucks have the world in a total vice grip hold. As if they are going to let the next generations take the reins.
I believe that this will culminate in a few different methods. Firstly there will be artificial organ implants, where the riches failing organs can be replaced (too expensive for the plebs). Next total skeleton replacement - which will allow these old fucks to have better dexterity and what not. And then finally someone will go "hey, why bother with all of these organs" and then make the ever more affordable version for the plebs which is just a artificial skeleton attached to the users brain, covered in some synthetic bioskin. Which kinda reminded me of that one terminator toy I found at a car boot sale...
Once we get to this point, the ruling class will basically have immortality where they can now exploit the plebs even more because like who needs to eat when you don't have a stomach? And the plebs will potentially last and be able to work longer, which counteracts the current declining birth rates due to the ruling classes choices making life for the plebs harder.
Now reading this, you're probably like "Izzy... what the fuck?" - but hear me out... Imagine you at least get the freedom to change your physical form from the ground up. You can now be anything you want. I think this would do wonders for gender affirming care - and personally this is what I am after if I am to ever transition. I have always disliked how tall I am to some degree, and like I want to be petite and cute.
To me, this seems like a benefit inside of the fucked up direction things will go. I really feel like we are on a path for a boring cyberpunk future, and to some degree we are already in one - but I feel that some of the cool parts of cyberpunk like robotics and prosthetics are currently in their infant stages in 2025. Research is being done on quite a lot of things, but realistically the plebs are not going to see much in the way of benefits from this research for a long time. Robotics over the last few years seems to have dramatically improved - especially some of the stuff that China is showing off. Idk - I feel very optimistic despite it all. Like a lot of this is going to be manmade horrors, but at the same time there is some silver lining and hope to be had.
At least to me, it just doesn't seem all that farfetched to go from robotics and synthetic organs towards the mid to late 2030s, to reducing organs needed to function inside cyborg plebs - a longer lasting populace after the fuckery which led to population declines. It all just seems rather inevitable.
Anyway, thats my thoughts on the future. Outside of this I think most things are going to get worse at least for a bit. Things kinda have to if we want them to get better. The current system has so much deep rooted corruption that continuing with it things will suck, and to overturn it entirely things will also suck. There are paths to fix things, but like yeah... Thats not gonna happen any time soon.
